Mr. Reed
Agnew Principal 

T.J. Reed was named principal of Agnew Middle School. He has a total of 14 years in education, with 12 in Mesquite ISD where he was most recently an assistant principal at West Mesquite High School.

Reed served as a teacher and coach in Sulfur Bluff ISD and Venus ISD prior to coming to Mesquite ISD. Reed taught science and coached at Agnew Middle School for five years, and was an assistant principal and registrar/assistant principal at North Mesquite High School for six years.  He is a member of the Region 10 Aspiring Principal Leadership Academy. Reed earned his bachelor’s from Angelo State University and master’s from Lamar University.

Agnew Assistant Principal 

Shenita Alsbrooks is new to Agnew as the 6th grade Assistant Principal.  Shenita Alsbrooks has a total of 14 years of experience in education. She served 10 years in Dallas ISD – eight years as a business teacher and two years as a testing coordinator at W. H. Adamson High School. She came to North Mesquite High School in 2016 as a business education teacher and worked in that capacity for three years. She most recently served as a student success teacher at West Mesquite High School for one year.

Alsbrooks earned her bachelor's and master's from Tarleton State University. She is currently a doctoral candidate with Abilene Christian University.

Mrs. Alsbrooks enjoys cooking, traveling with her family and friends as well as serving at her church and in the community.

Mr. Coplin
Agnew Assistant Principal

Rick Coplin joined Agnew MS in 1994 as a teacher and coach. He then moved to MHS in 1999 as a Coach/teacher and became an administrator in 2000. He began his career from 1992 -1994 as a teacher/coach at Coyle Middle School in Rowlett. He taught and coached for 7 years and was the Associate Prinicipal at MHS for 9 years and at Horn High for 7 years. He has been the assistant principal at Agnew for the last 9 years.

Mr. Coplin attended Hanby Elementary, Wilkinson Middle School, and Mesquite High School. He received his master's degree from Texas A&M Commerce in 1997 in Administration.

He believes we must build relationships with all students and find what all students excel in to help them succeed in life.

In his free time, he loves to fish, hunt, and hang out with his family and dogs.

Ms. Okafor
Agnew Assistant Principal 

Agnew Middle School welcomed Amy Okafor as assistant principal in the 2017-2018 school year. 

Ms. Okafor has been in education for twelve years having served as an English teacher at McDonald Middle School and A.C. New Middle School. Before becoming an administrator, Ms. Okafor spent three years as the Academic Success Coordinator at Mesquite High School.

In addition to her leadership and instructional experience, Ms. Okafor also secured many community based partnerships and small grants while lecturing at Western State Colorado University in the College of Education.

Ms. Okafor received her Bachelor of Science degree in Interdisciplinary Studies from Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches, Texas, and earned her Master's degree in Educational Leadership from Lamar University. She is currently a student at Texas A&M-Commerce pursuing her doctoral degree in Educational Administration. 

Outside of her school time, Ms. Okafor enjoys spending time with her family and friends, reading, working out and cycling, but most importantly, traveling!
